Pubs in parts of Lancashire are set to become IT training centres thanks to a link between the council and Pub is the Hub.
Pubs are being asked to host free computer classes for absolute beginners with Lancashire County Council supplying the kit.
Funding for the courses, which last for four to six weeks is available until the end of March and it could be a way to drive trade on quiet winter days.
All pubs need to do is provide tables and chairs and a quiet area or meeting room for the 90-minute sessions.
Malcolm Harrison, Pub is the Hub North West chairman, said: “Pubs are warm, accessible and open for long hours during the day so they make the ideal space to provide community initiatives like this.”
The scheme is running across the country bar the unitary authorities of Blackpool and Blackburn.
